Approach: real threats and SOC, or a per-person loop
Cofense's simulations start from its threat data. Its platform page says it turns verified attacks into real-world simulations instead of using generic templates, and its training page describes adaptive simulations built on real phishing data, sent while people are actively using email. Cofense measures competency in a dashboard rather than only click rates, and pairs training with a reporting button that feeds a global network of reporters. Behind that sits Phishing Remediation, which uses AI clustering and analyst validation to quarantine whole campaigns.
PhishGrid starts from the employee. Each simulation is written for the person, using their role and context, and the outcome (clicked, submitted data, reported, ignored) decides their next Daily Lesson. The loop is simulate, measure, train, track. Admins can generate templates and landing pages from a prompt, import their own HTML, and build training with the AI Training Creator and AI Media Studio. Achievements reward reporting.
The two approaches answer different questions. Cofense asks how fast your organisation can find and remove a phishing campaign that got through. Free costs nothing, with no credit card, and covers email and macro phishing simulation, customised reports, awareness content and email support; its limits depend on organisation size. Starter is $0.99 per user per month for organisations of up to 100 employees and adds custom templates on demand. Enterprise is priced on request and adds custom awareness content, 24×7 support, automated vishing, ransomware and malware simulation and the AI attack engine.
Because Cofense bundles training with reporting and remediation, a like-for-like quote depends on which modules you need. If you only need the human risk part, compare that line item, not the whole platform.
Moving from Cofense to PhishGrid
